Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inclusive lessons and targeted support that help students with additional needs make meaningful progress.
* Plan and adapt learning activities to
* Develop and support individual education plans aligned with student targets, curriculum access, and classroom progress.
* Work closely with classroom teachers to differentiate lessons, modify resources, and improve student participation.
* Observe, assess, and monitor student development using school assessment procedures and evidence-based practice.
* Use assessment data to guide intervention planning, classroom strategies, and individual learning support.
* Promote independence by teaching clear learning routines, self-management strategies, and confidence-building skills.
* Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, inclusion assistants, and school leaders.
* Liaise with speech therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other specialists when required.
* Support behaviour development through consistent, respectful, and policy-aligned classroom approaches.
* Provide feedback to parents and carers on student progress, wellbeing, and learning needs during meetings and school communication.
* Help embed inclusive values, learner expectations, and positive attitudes across the school environment.
* Contribute to curriculum planning, inclusion reviews, student support meetings, and wider school initiatives.
* Maintain strong safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, and professional conduct standards.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Education, or a related subject with PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
* SEN qualification or relevant inclusion training is preferred.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience, ideally with students who require additional learning support.
* Strong understanding of SEN strategies, IEP planning, differentiated instruction, and inclusive classroom practice.
* Experience supporting students with academic, behavioural, emotional, social, physical, or communication needs.
* Ability to work effectively with classroom teachers, inclusion assistants, parents, and specialist professionals.
* Clear communication skills with a calm, patient, and solution-focused approach.
* Professional commitment to safeguarding, child wellbeing, confidentiality, and school policies.
* Ability to use assessment information to improve learning plans and targeted interventions.
