Role Context
The PYP Cover Teacher - Primary Education will provide reliable teaching coverage across Early Years and primary classrooms whenever permanent teachers are unavailable. The role is essential to maintaining curriculum
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver planned lessons across Early Years to Grade 5 classrooms.
* Follow Primary Years Programme units, learning objectives and teacher instructions.
* Maintain continuity of learning during short-term teacher absences.
* Apply inquiry-based teaching approaches that encourage curiosity and independent thinking.
* Adapt quickly to different year groups, subjects and classroom environments.
* Create positive learning experiences aligned with the IB Learner Profile.
* Support students with varied abilities, cultural backgrounds and educational needs.
* Use differentiation to make lesson content accessible and appropriately challenging.
* Establish clear classroom expectations and maintain productive learning routines.
* Monitor student participation, understanding and completion of assigned work.
* Provide suitable guidance and academic support during individual and group activities.
* Use available teaching materials, classroom technology and digital learning platforms effectively.
* Maintain accurate attendance records and report relevant classroom information.
* Communicate lesson progress, student concerns and completed work to permanent teachers or school leaders.
* Promote respectful behaviour, inclusion and responsible classroom participation.
* Support the social, emotional and academic development of younger learners.
* Follow safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and school conduct procedures.
* Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, grade teams and curriculum leaders.
* Participate in briefings, meetings or professional development activities when required.
* Supervise students during transitions, break periods and school activities when assigned.
* Protect the confidentiality of student and school information.
* Contribute positively to the academy\'s international and multicultural community.
* Complete other reasonable teaching and supervisory duties delegated by school leadership.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor of Education, PGCE, PGDE or an equivalent degree-level professional teaching qualification.
* Minimum 2 years of varied and demonstrable primary school teaching experience.
* Experience teaching within the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme is preferred.
* Early Childhood Education experience would be advantageous.
* Ability to teach students from Early Years through Grade 5.
* Understanding of inquiry-led, student-centred and concept-based learning.
* Genuine alignment with International Baccalaureate philosophy and the Learner Profile.
* Strong classroom management and student engagement capabilities.
* Ability to enter unfamiliar classrooms and establish effective routines quickly.
* Flexible approach to different subjects, age groups and daily teaching requirements.
* Commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learning.
* Excellent communication and collaborative working skills.
* Confidence working with students from diverse national and cultural backgrounds.
* Professional judgement and a responsible approach to safeguarding.
* Must already be located in the UAE.
* Must hold an existing visa permitting work in the UAE.
* Willingness to complete a UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police clearance.
