Role Context
The Sports Performance Analyst plays a critical role in supporting high-performance athletes by collecting, analysing, and presenting performance data that helps coaches make informed decisions. This position combines sports science, athlete monitoring, video review, and performance technology to improve development outcomes, reduce injury risk, and support long-term student-athlete success. The role also contributes to innovation by integrating AI and advanced analytics into the school’s sports performance strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the collection and interpretation of biometric, physiological, and performance data across high-performance athletes
* Manage video capture and analysis from fixtures, training sessions, and performance testing activities
* Create and maintain performance dashboards using platforms such as Power BI, TeamBuildr, VALD, and related systems
* Monitor athlete wellbeing, physical load, attendance, behaviour, and performance trends through structured reporting
* Work closely with coaches to build detailed athlete performance profiles and support tailored development plans
* Provide clear feedback and performance summaries to athletes, parents, and coaching staff
* Produce monthly reports highlighting performance trends, risks, and intervention opportunities
* Support Individual Athlete Plan reviews with detailed data analysis and performance recommendations
* Create visual coaching resources including highlight reels, tactical breakdowns, and technical review content
* Explore and implement AI tools, player tracking systems, and auto-tagging technology to improve analysis quality
* Support athlete digital portfolios for scholarships, trials, and external sporting opportunities
* Ensure all performance systems comply with school safeguarding and data protection policies
Ideal Profile
* Degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, Data Science, or a related field
* Postgraduate qualification is desirable for advanced performance roles
* Experience working within a school, academy, or professional sports performance environment
* Strong knowledge of athlete monitoring systems, load management, and performance testing
* Proficiency with performance software such as HUDL, VALD, and related sports technology platforms
* Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI for reporting and decision support
* Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical data clearly to athletes, coaches, and parents
* Passion for performance improvement, athlete wellbeing, and technology-driven sports development
