The Teacher - AP English plays a key role in preparing students for advanced academic pathways by delivering high-level English instruction that strengthens analysis, writing, communication, and independent thinking. This position supports outstanding student achievement while helping learners succeed in rigorous international academic programmes and future university pathways.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging AP English lessons that inspire students to achieve outstanding academic outcomes
* Plan and prepare advanced lessons aligned with curriculum standards and school teaching objectives
* Create a positive and intellectually stimulating classroom environment that promotes critical thinking and independent learning
* Organise learning resources, classroom displays, and teaching materials that support strong student engagement
* Teach students across varying ability levels using effective differentiation strategies and targeted intervention
* Assess student progress regularly and use academic data to improve lesson planning and achievement outcomes
* Maintain accurate student development records using Target Tracker and school assessment systems
* Support students where English is an additional language through inclusive and effective teaching methods
* Follow behaviour management policies and maintain strong classroom discipline with positive reinforcement
* Contribute to curriculum action groups, extracurricular activities, school events, and weekly ECA programmes
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject with B.Ed. or PGCE Education qualification
* Strong experience teaching AP, IB, or A-Levels standard is required
* Previous international school experience is an advantage
* Previous experience teaching students where English is not their first language
* Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child
* High level of professionalism with strong focus on student wellbeing and safeguarding
* Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues
* Positive and solution-focused attitude toward teaching and teamwork
* Clean enhanced police clearance or Disclosure and Barring Services check
