Role Context
The Teacher - Mathematics Secondary plays a strategic role in strengthening curriculum delivery, academic performance, and student confidence in Mathematics across the secondary school phase. This position supports outstanding teaching standards, targeted student intervention, and strong department collaboration while contributing to long-term school improvement and examination success.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality Mathematics lessons aligned with the British Curriculum, I/GCSE, and A Level standards
* Develop and implement department policies and teaching practices that reflect the school’s academic vision and excellence goals
* Use assessment data to identify underperforming students and create effective intervention plans for measurable progress
* Ensure schemes of work are relevant, updated, and inclusive for SEN, G and T, and EAL students
* Maintain curriculum continuity, progression, and high teaching standards across all year groups
* Establish strong systems for assessing, recording, and reporting student achievement and academic development
* Evaluate teaching quality within the department and lead improvement strategies for stronger outcomes
* Lead regular department meetings focused on raising standards in teaching, learning, and student performance
* Support CAS programmes, after-school booster sessions, and revision classes for I/GCSE and IB DP courses
* Act as Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor for Year 12 and Year 13 students where required
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor of Education Degree in Mathematics or equivalent degree with PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification
* Minimum 6 years of Mathematics teaching experience including 4 consecutive years of outstanding teaching performance
* Strong experience teaching British Curriculum including I/GCSE and I/A Level
* Previous leadership experience is desirable
* Excellent communication and classroom management skills
* Experience teaching students where English is not their first language
* Passion for education and commitment to educating the whole child
* High level of professionalism with strong safeguarding awareness
* Positive and solution-focused attitude with strong resilience under pressure
* Clean enhanced police clearance or Disclosure and Barring Services check
