The Teaching Assistant - Student Support plays an important role in helping pupils participate fully in classroom activities while supporting their emotional, social, and physical well-being. This position works closely with teachers and specialist staff to ensure students receive consistent academic guidance and a safe, supportive school experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide support for individual pupils and small groups inside and outside the classroom
* Assist students in participating fully in academic and school-based activities
* Support pupils with emotional, behavioural, and additional learning needs
* Help implement individual education programmes and monitor student progress
* Work closely with class teachers to maintain accurate pupil records and attendance
* Assist with classroom preparation, displays of student work, and teaching resources
* Support teachers with photocopying, organization, and general classroom tasks
* Supervise pupils in classrooms and other school locations to ensure safety and discipline
* Reinforce positive behaviour and support the school’s behaviour management policy
* Coordinate with professionals such as speech therapists and occupational therapists when required
Ideal Profile
* Minimum secondary school certificate is required
* At least 2 years of experience working in a school environment
* Good English language skills or proficiency in the language used within the school curriculum
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
* Ability to work effectively with children across different age groups
* Positive attitude with patience, responsibility, and reliability
* Strong awareness of health, safety, and student well-being practices
