Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging Physical Education lessons that inspire students to participate, improve, and enjoy active learning.
* Plan PE sessions that support different ability
levels, movement skills, teamwork, and age-appropriate physical development.
* Create a safe, inclusive, and positive sports environment where pupils can build confidence and independence.
* Organise PE resources, learning areas, and activity equipment to support effective lesson delivery.
* Work with fellow teachers to align lessons with curriculum expectations and whole-school learning goals.
* Observe and assess student participation, skill development, progress, and engagement during PE activities.
* Use assessment outcomes to adjust planning, improve instruction, and support students who need additional guidance.
* Promote positive behaviour, fair play, respect, self-control, and cooperation during lessons and school activities.
* Communicate professionally with parents, carers, and colleagues regarding student progress, wellbeing, and participation.
* Collaborate with support staff and specialists when students require additional learning, physical, or wellbeing support.
* Embed the school’s learner values and teacher expectations through daily PE practice and student interaction.
* Support school sports events, activity days, extra-curricular programmes, outings, and wider school initiatives.
* Maintain strong health and safety standards during all physical activities, equipment use, and student movement sessions.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or a related subject with PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
* Previous teaching experience in Physical Education, sports instruction, or primary school PE is preferred.
* Strong understanding of curriculum planning, safe PE delivery, and inclusive sports participation.
* Ability to motivate young learners through creative, structured, and energetic teaching methods.
* Good classroom and activity-area management skills with a calm and consistent approach to behaviour.
* Confident communication skills for working with students, parents, teachers, and school leaders.
* Commitment to student wellbeing, safeguarding, teamwork, and whole-child development.
* Ability to support learners with different physical abilities, confidence levels, and learning needs.
