Mechanical Engineer - Rotating Equipment Design
Location: Mesaieed, Qatar
Employment Type: Indefinite Contract
About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Rotating Equipment Design to join our team. This role involves the design, development, and integration of rotating equipment, auxiliary systems, and related packages into existing industrial process plants. The engineer will be responsible for technical evaluations, root cause analysis, engineering calculations, tender preparation, and project execution while ensuring compliance with company procedures and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead project activities, liaising with all stakeholders to ensure smooth execution and resolution of challenges.
- Conduct root cause analysis and perform engineering calculations using specialized software as per industry codes and standards.
- Develop process data sheets with mechanical specifications to detail equipment requirements.
- Prepare datasheets, specifications, and requests for quotation (RFQ) for new equipment.
- Review and evaluate supplier proposals, preparing bid tabulations for decision-making.
- Select, size, and estimate costs for rotating equipment to meet process design and mechanical performance requirements.
- Develop and update engineering standards and specifications, incorporating lessons learned from previous projects.
- Provide technical support for overhauling and maintenance of rotating equipment such as steam turbines, compressors, gas turbines, and pumps.
- Assist with P&ID, 3D piping models, and HAZOP reviews.
- Conduct design reviews, fabrication inspections, and performance tests to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Stay updated on technological advancements in rotating equipment to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reduction.
- Support multiple projects while maintaining high-quality work and adherence to schedules.
- Train and mentor junior engineers, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills to work independently.
