Role Context
The Principal Consultant - Environment will provide senior technical and
strategic leadership across environmental consulting engagements, helping clients understand environmental risks, meet regulatory obligations, and incorporate sustainable practices into major projects and business decisions. Working across multidisciplinary teams, the consultant will guide environmental assessments, compliance reviews, audits, and management strategies while maintaining strong relationships with clients, regulators, and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop environmental consulting strategies aligned with project requirements, client priorities, and UAE regulatory expectations.
* Lead environmental impact assessments, environmental audits, compliance reviews, and technical investigations across multiple sectors.
* Interpret complex environmental data, legislation, standards, and regulatory requirements to identify risks and practical mitigation measures.
* Provide senior advisory support to clients on environmental performance, sustainability objectives, permitting, and compliance matters.
* Direct multidisciplinary project teams and maintain technical quality across reports, assessments, recommendations, and client deliverables.
* Manage senior client relationships and provide clear technical guidance to executive and project-level stakeholders.
* Review environmental management systems and support alignment with ISO 14001 and relevant sustainability frameworks.
* Prepare technical reports, management presentations, environmental documentation, and decision-support materials.
* Track changes in UAE and Middle East environmental legislation, standards, permitting requirements, and sustainability practices.
* Mentor environmental consultants and support capability development across technical teams.
* Coordinate with engineering, planning, sustainability, construction, and project management specialists to integrate environmental considerations throughout project delivery.
* Identify consulting opportunities, support proposals, and contribute to the continued growth of the environmental advisory practice.
* Participate in industry forums, client meetings, regulatory discussions, and professional events where senior environmental representation is required.
Ideal Profile
* Degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, sustainability, ecology, or a closely related discipline.
* Minimum 12 years of professional experience in environmental consulting, sustainability advisory, environmental management, or comparable roles.
* Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory procedures, and compliance requirements within the UAE and Middle East.
* Demonstrated experience managing environmental impact assessments, audits, technical reviews, and complex consulting assignments.
* Proven ability to lead large environmental projects while controlling scope, schedule, quality, and commercial performance.
* Experience advising senior clients and communicating technical environmental matters to non-technical stakeholders.
* Strong understanding of environmental management systems, including ISO 14001 principles and sustainability frameworks.
* Previous responsibility for supervising, coaching, or mentoring consultants and technical specialists.
* Experience within infrastructure, construction, oil and gas, manufacturing, renewable energy, or other environmentally sensitive sectors is advantageous.
* Professional certification in environmental management, sustainability, auditing, or a related discipline would be beneficial.
