Role Context
The Reliability Maintenance and Engineering team manages building systems, facilities services, technical services and material-handling equipment. Reliable planning enables this team to complete more work proactively, reduce equipment downtime and maintain the operational capacity required by the fulfilment center.
The planner will connect maintenance leadership, technicians, Procurement, original equipment manufacturers and service vendors. Through accurate work-order planning and asset data, the position will support a reliability-centered maintenance program targeting at least 85 percent proactive planned work.
Key Responsibilities
The RME Planner will control maintenance information, resource requirements and scheduling from initial work-order screening through accurate system closure.
* Act as the site expert for Computerized Maintenance Management System software.
* Train the local engineering team in correct system use.
* Escalate technical or process issues to the AMET team when required.
* Ensure the system operates according to Amazon maintenance standards.
* Participate in regional improvement projects and new-functionality rollouts.
* Maintain accurate equipment, spare-parts and minimum-stock records.
* Compile machine histories, performance indicators and asset information.
* Recommend reliability improvements based on equipment findings.
* Manage spare-parts stock levels and place or track orders.
* Work with Procurement and network teams to identify savings and efficiencies.
* Screen work orders and define the required maintenance scope.
* Determine planning requirements based on criticality, resources and downtime windows.
* Coordinate preventive and condition-based maintenance schedules.
* Audit preventive-maintenance quality and document improvement areas.
* Identify safety hazards connected with planned maintenance work.
* Estimate labor hours, total duration, tools, materials and equipment requirements.
* Plan resources for reliability-improvement projects.
* Increase technician wrench time through complete and accurate job planning.
* Ensure maintenance activities originate from the CMMS and are closed correctly.
* Confirm that drawings, specifications and technical documents are available.
* Analyze equipment downtime and manage the warranty process.
* Work with original equipment manufacturers to improve uptime and lower costs.
* Distribute technical bulletins and maintain strong vendor communication.
* Coordinate maintenance activities with local Reliability Maintenance and Engineering leaders.
The planner will also review shift reports and reopen work orders when data quality is inadequate. Daily planning will cover projects, technician resources, vendors, preventive maintenance, material-handling equipment and overdue work.
* Monitor booked labor compliance and flag incomplete records.
* Inspect recently completed preventive maintenance and system checks three times each week.
* Provide feedback when work has not been completed to the required standard.
* Maintain the team skills matrix for spare-parts and Asset Performance Management training.
Ideal Profile
The successful candidate will be methodical, technically capable and comfortable challenging incomplete maintenance records. They should understand how accurate planning, parts availability and work-order quality affect technician productivity and equipment reliability.
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
* At least 2 years of maintenance planning or scheduling experience.
* Relevant experience may come from industrial maintenance, manufacturing or distribution.
* Minimum 1 year working with an enterprise asset-management software suite.
* Ability to interpret equipment histories, work orders and downtime data.
* Experience with budgeting, scheduling and cost reporting is preferred.
* Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field is advantageous.
* Experience working with or evaluating artificial intelligence systems is also desirable.
* Ability to communicate technical requirements to technicians and vendors.
* Strong commitment to maintenance safety and data accuracy.
The role requires the ability to move items weighing up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts of up to 10 hours, climb ladders safely, and regularly bend, lift, stretch and reach above or below the waist.
