Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough trend research to identify upcoming styles, colors, and fabrics relevant to the target market and brand aesthetic.
Develop creative and original design concepts through sketches, mood boards, and digital tools.
Translate design concepts into technical drawings and specifications, ensuring garment functionality and wearability.
Select high-quality fabrics, trims, and embellishments that align with the design vision and budget.
Collaborate with patternmakers and sample makers to bring designs to life through prototypes.
Oversee the sampling process, providing feedback and making necessary adjustments to ensure garment quality and fit.
Conduct fit sessions with models to refine designs and ensure a flattering silhouette.
Work with merchandising and production teams to translate final designs into commercially viable garments.
Stay up-to-date on the latest fashion trends, industry best practices, and sustainable design principles.
May be involved in creating presentations for buyers and wholesale partners (depending on the role).
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field (e.g., Textile Design, Apparel Design).
Minimum [5] years of experience in the fashion design industry (adjust based on seniority level).
Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of design skills and a clear understanding of fashion aesthetics.
Excellent sketching and illustration skills, with proficiency in digital design tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator).
In-depth knowledge of fabrics, textiles, and garment construction techniques.
Strong understanding of fashion trends and the ability to translate them into wearable designs.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a team.
A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
