Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and validate standard costs, bills of materials, routings and overhead absorption rates across food manufacturing operations.
* Perform monthly inventory valuation, reserve analysis and slow-moving or obsolete stock reviews.
* Reconcile inventory sub-ledgers with the general ledger and investigate valuation differences.
* Ensure product costing accuracy across plants, warehouses and SKUs.
* Track raw material costs, bulk SKUs, additives, discrete inventory items and related production cost elements.
* Analyze price, volume, mix, usage, yield, efficiency and overhead variances with clear root cause commentary.
* Partner with manufacturing, supply chain and commercial teams to identify cost reduction and productivity opportunities.
* Monitor savings initiatives and validate their financial impact for management review.
* Support annual budget and rolling forecast cycles for variable and fixed manufacturing costs.
* Review actual performance against budget and forecast, highlighting risks, opportunities and corrective actions.
* Develop scenario and sensitivity analysis to support operational and commercial decision-making.
* Support pricing, margin analysis and customer or product profitability reviews.
* Maintain costing, planning and reporting systems, including ERP and business intelligence tools.
* Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, resolving issues and ensuring compliance.
* Execute month-end closing activities related to cost of goods sold, inventory, provisions and related reconciliations.
* Prepare management reports, KPI dashboards and executive commentary with accurate financial insights.
* Conduct periodic physical counts and cycle counts with variance analysis and adjustment support.
* Lead and support process standardization, automation, controls improvement and change adoption initiatives.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Cost Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
* 5-7 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, manufacturing finance or operations finance.
* Professional accounting qualification such as CMA, CIMA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent is preferred.
* Experience in food manufacturing, flour milling, oats milling, starch milling, poultry processing, oil crushing or similar production environments is an advantage.
* Strong knowledge of product costing, standard costing, inventory valuation and cost of goods sold reporting.
* Hands-on experience with variance analysis including PPV, usage, yield, efficiency and overhead absorption.
* Good understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, production flows and inventory controls.
* Solid knowledge of IFRS and accounting standards related to inventory and costing.
* Ability to review complex cost data and convert it into practical financial insights for decision-makers.
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work closely with finance, manufacturing, supply chain, operations and commercial teams.
