Role Context

The Bodyshop Estimator - Automotive Repairs will support the efficient movement of vehicles


from initial damage assessment through repair completion and final quality inspection. The position combines repair estimation, workshop coordination, production monitoring, resource planning, staff guidance, and customer service awareness.

The successful candidate will help ensure that body repair jobs are completed within approved specifications, estimated costs, and agreed timelines. By monitoring workmanship, controlling delays, and minimizing repeat jobs, the role will directly contribute to workshop profitability, productivity, and customer retention.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare accurate bodyshop repair estimates based on vehicle damage, labor requirements, replacement parts, paintwork, and approved repair methods.
* Monitor daily workshop production to support achievement of budgeted output and operational targets.
* Coordinate assigned repair jobs with technicians, supervisors, parts teams, and other workshop personnel.
* Ensure repairs are completed according to established quality standards, manufacturer specifications, and agreed completion times.
* Review work progress and identify delays, capacity constraints, or resource shortages that may affect vehicle delivery.
* Determine workshop requirements including manpower, equipment, tools, materials, and infrastructure support.
* Maintain clear communication with senior management and workshop employees to support smooth floor operations.
* Verify the quality of completed body and paint repairs before vehicles proceed to final inspection or customer delivery.
* Minimize repeat repairs by ensuring that workmanship issues are identified and corrected before job closure.
* Support customer satisfaction by promoting accurate estimates, realistic timelines, and consistent repair quality.
* Maintain workshop discipline and ensure compliance with company rules, operational procedures, and safety requirements.
* Promote a clean, organized, and safe bodyshop environment.
* Review employee performance and provide practical feedback to improve productivity and workmanship.
* Assist with the onboarding, guidance, and development of newly appointed workshop employees.
* Encourage technicians and support staff to achieve individual and departmental performance targets.
* Maintain relevant repair estimates, job records, approval documents, inspection findings, and production reports.
* Work with insurance representatives or internal approval teams when repair authorization or estimate clarification is required.
* Recommend operational improvements that can increase workshop capacity, reduce turnaround time, and strengthen cost control.

Ideal Profile

* Diploma or degree in Automobile Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
* 3 to 7 years of experience as a Bodyshop Estimator within the automobile industry.
* Practical knowledge of vehicle body repair, accident damage assessment, paintwork, panel replacement, and repair costing.
* Ability to estimate labor hours, parts requirements, consumables, and repair completion timelines.
* Understanding of bodyshop production planning and workshop floor coordination.
* Experience working with technicians, supervisors, parts departments, and customer service teams.
* Strong attention to detail when inspecting damage and reviewing completed repairs.
* Ability to manage several repair jobs while maintaining accuracy and delivery commitments.
* Sound understanding of workshop safety, cleanliness, discipline, and operational compliance.
* Effective communication skills for coordinating with employees, managers, customers, and external stakeholders.
