Position Overview
The Public Health Inspector - Ports will perform advanced inspections, investigations, and health surveillance at air, land, and sea entry points in Dubai. The role enforces IHR 2005 standards, mitigates high-risk cases, and improves inspection methodologies to protect public health and enhance institutional performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct inspections at border ports to ensure compliance with approved health and environmental regulations
* Monitor and follow up on International Health Regulations 2005 requirements for travelers and goods
* Investigate complex or recurring complaints, incidents, and violations; document findings and submit recommendations
* Execute epidemiological investigations, contact tracing, and outbreak response protocols with relevant authorities
* Provide technical guidance, on-the-job training, and on-site support to inspection teams
* Explain and interpret health regulations and compliance requirements to facility representatives and authorities
* Offer technical opinions to management on cases with legal and technical dimensions
* Develop and update inspection tools, checklists, manuals, and work methodologies
* Prepare detailed technical reports to support legal, regulatory, and strategic decisions
* Participate in initiatives and committees related to ports and health surveillance and represent public health in coordination meetings
* Perform other related duties as assigned by the direct manager
Candidate Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in a medical discipline or public health
* Total 5 years experience including 3 plus years in healthcare or hospital settings and 2 plus years in the insurance industry
* Nationals: 3–5 years of experience; Non-nationals: 10 plus years in a related field
* Strong knowledge of public health regulations, inspection procedures, and IHR 2005
* Experience in epidemiological investigation, outbreak response, and contact tracing
* Excellent communication, stakeholder coordination, documentation, and confidentiality practices
* Ability to manage multiple assignments, mentor teams, and maintain high quality standards
