Role Context
This position contributes to high-impact scientific research within the Center of Astrophysics and Space Science by supporting the Mars Research Group and the Emirates Mars Mission. The selected candidate will help analyze planetary datasets, improve scientific models, and contribute to research that advances understanding of Mars and planetary atmospheric systems while supporting the UAE’s growing leadership in space science.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyze atmospheric and surface observations collected by the Emirates Mars Mission Hope probe
* Support scientific investigations related to Martian atmospheric behavior and surface processes
* Examine additional datasets from other Mars missions for comparative analysis and stronger scientific modeling
* Develop machine learning methods for planetary science research and data interpretation
* Run numerical simulations using NYUAD’s High-Performance Computing systems
* Process large scientific datasets and perform advanced data analysis using computational tools
* Assist in preparing scientific manuscripts, technical reports, and conference presentations
* Contribute to publication of peer-reviewed research findings for the global scientific community
* Collaborate with researchers and faculty across astrophysics, planetary science, and computational research teams
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree minimum, with Master’s degree preferred in Physics, Computer Science, or a related scientific discipline
* Strong academic background in planetary science, astrophysics, or scientific computing
* Excellent programming skills with strong practical experience in Python
* Experience handling large datasets and scientific data analysis workflows
* Familiarity with machine learning methods and numerical simulations
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in collaborative research environments
