About the Research Role
The CAMeL Lab\'s mission centers on
research and education in artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on natural language processing, computational linguistics, and data science.
The post-doctoral researcher may work across the lab\'s research areas according to their expertise and research interests. Key areas include Arabic natural language processing, orthography normalization, grammatical error correction, morphology tagging, syntactic parsing, readability assessment, machine translation, and text analytics.
The position is designed for an early-career researcher who can contribute both to academic research and the practical development of language technologies.
Research Responsibilities
* Conduct research in one or more areas represented within the CAMeL Lab\'s research program.
* Contribute to natural language processing, computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, and related data science research.
* Participate in the development of open-source software tools, datasets, language resources, and research technologies.
* Conduct experiments, analyze results, and document research findings.
* Prepare research publications arising from the candidate\'s work.
* Collaborate with CAMeL Lab researchers on ongoing and emerging research projects.
* Contribute to Arabic NLP research where relevant to the candidate\'s expertise and interests.
Candidate Profile
The position targets the rank of Post-Doctoral Associate and is intended for candidates with less than five years of experience after receiving their PhD.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with one of the following academic and research backgrounds:
* Computer science or computer engineering with previous natural language processing experience.
* Computational linguistics.
* Language technologies.
* A closely aligned research background relevant to the lab\'s work.
Candidates should have strong programming capabilities and experience with machine learning. A research publication record appropriate to the Post-Doctoral Associate rank is also expected.
Knowledge of Arabic is preferred but not required. Previous research experience in Arabic NLP is similarly preferred but is not a mandatory requirement.
