New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking motivated Post Doctoral Associates to join the Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) within the Division of Engineering. The research focuses on resilient concrete structures, with key areas of interest including ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) mix development, 3D printing of structural materials, soil-structure interaction, small-scale centrifuge testing, and advanced experimental simulation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct innovative and independent experimental, analytical, and computational research on resilient concrete structures
- Develop UHPC mixes, perform material characterization, and explore structural applications, including precast technologies
- Work on structural 3D printing across multiple scales with metals, concrete, and composites
- Perform soil-structure interaction studies and develop resilient foundation systems
- Conduct physical modeling using small-scale structural centrifuge testing
- Utilize advanced instrumentation and experimental simulation techniques
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, providing research guidance
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on research projects and grant proposals
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- PhD in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Material Engineering (or related fields such as Nuclear Engineering or Material Science)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students in research
- Expertise in laboratory-scale experimental testing at material, component, or structural levels
- Knowledge of 3D printing for structural and geotechnical applications
- Proficiency in programming and coding (Python, C++ preferred), including GUI and computational tool development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal training, education, or certification in a secondary research area such as additive manufacturing, soil-structure interaction, centrifuge testing, or structural 3D printing
- Hands-on experience with physical modeling for structural or geotechnical applications
