Postdoctoral Associate – Marine Microbiomics and Computational Biology Job Vacancy in UAE Abdu Dhabi
The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the Interdisciplinary Collaboration Program. This project, spanning oceanography, ecology, and mathematics, will be based at NYU Abu Dhabi starting September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Shady Amin in the Marine Microbiomics Lab and Professor Francesco Paparella.

Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate microbial loop interactions between phytoplankton and bacteria
- Conduct co-culture experiments and analyze microbiome interactions
- Utilize chemostats and culturing techniques to study microbial dynamics
- Develop computational models to simulate microbial loop processes
- Perform bioinformatics analysis using Python or R for large-scale microbial datasets
- Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
- Publish findings in high-impact scientific journals and present at conferences
Required Skills and Experience:
Education:
- A PhD in marine biology, oceanography, computational biology, or a related field
Experience:
- Strong background in marine microbiology, including phytoplankton and bacterial culturing
- Experience with chemostats and experimental design in microbial research
- Proven ability to conduct independent, high-quality research with a strong publication record
Skills:
- Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and data analysis using Python or R
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams
- Strong scientific creativity and problem-solving abilities
