Postdoctoral Associate – Wireless Communication and Metasurfaces

The Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to conduct advanced research on the physical layer design of programmable metasurface-enabled wireless communication systems. This role, under the supervision of Prof. Qurrat-Ul-Ain Nadeem, will contribute to the development of next-generation communication technologies by exploring reconfigurable holographic surfaces (RHS) and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS).

Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate programmable metasurfaces for ultra-massive/holographic MIMO communication systems
- Optimize RHS-enabled and RIS-assisted MIMO communication systems using information theory, signal processing, and machine learning techniques
- Conduct experimental research, including channel measurement data collection and analysis in RIS-enabled communication environments
- Develop algorithms and models to improve wireless communication performance
- Publish research findings in top-tier IEEE journals and conferences
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on experimental testbeds and software-defined radios

Required Skills and Experience:

Education:
- A PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field

Experience:
- Proven track record of publications in IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Signal Processing Society journals and conferences
- Strong background in communication theory, signal processing, optimization theory, and machine learning
- Experience with experimental testbeds and software-defined radios is a plus
- Research expertise in reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, massive MIMO, or integrated space-air-ground networks is desirable

Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in research teams
