Role Context
This position supports the Future-Generation of Resilient and Infrastructure Design Technology Hub by advancing next-generation engineering solutions for critical infrastructure and future-ready construction systems. The selected researcher will contribute to impactful academic projects that improve structural resilience, digital inspection methods, and advanced material applications for safer and smarter infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct independent and collaborative research in civil and urban engineering with focus on resilient infrastructure systems
* Support projects involving structural 3D printing using metals, concrete, and composite materials
* Perform computational mechanics analysis, structural topology optimization, and finite element simulation
* Develop and improve vision-based structural health monitoring systems for infrastructure applications
* Participate in autonomous and drone-based infrastructure inspection and vibration monitoring research
* Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international engineering conferences
* Mentor undergraduate students and junior graduate researchers within multidisciplinary projects
* Assist in preparing research proposals, technical reports, and grant applications
* Collaborate with scientists and engineers across structural, mechanical, material, and computer science disciplines
Ideal Profile
* PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Engineering, or a closely related field
* Candidates should be within the first five years after PhD completion
* Strong publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals
* Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills
* Previous experience mentoring students or supervising junior researchers
* Additional exposure to machine learning, AI, robotics, UAVs, computer vision, or advanced manufacturing is highly preferred
