Job Overview

The research assistant will work under the supervision of Professor Jordan J. Norris, joining his research team in spatial economics. The role focuses on understanding how location affects economic activity, with key topics including spatial inequality, spatial interdependence, and spatial policy. The candidate will be actively involved in all aspects of the research, including data collection, analysis, quantitative modeling, and academic writing.

Key Responsibilities

- Collect and clean economic data from public and academic sources
- Perform regression analysis using econometric methods such as OLS, IV, panel, and spatial econometrics
- Apply quantitative economic models, including Monte Carlo simulations
- Document and organize code with clear comments and version history
- Conduct literature reviews to support research directions
- Contribute to writing academic papers, preparing figures, tables, and reports
- Assist in managing research projects, ensuring efficiency and clarity in execution

Required Skills and Experience

Education:
- Ph.D. in Economics, Computational Social Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline

Skills:
- Strong data analysis and econometric/statistical knowledge
- Experience with data management, including collection, organization, and cleaning
