Role Context
This position supports advanced research within the Modern Compilers Lab by improving compiler intelligence and automatic code optimization for high-performance systems. The selected candidate will contribute to the development of Tiramisu, a next-generation programming framework designed to generate highly optimized code across multiple hardware architectures for academic and industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities
* Support research at the intersection of compilers, machine learning, and deep learning
* Contribute to the development of automatic code optimization features within the Tiramisu programming framework
* Improve machine learning modules used for optimization selection and compiler decision-making
* Analyze compiler optimizations such as vectorization, parallelization, fusion, and blocking for performance enhancement
* Help design intelligent compiler passes that automatically choose the best optimization strategy for unoptimized programs
* Work with performance benchmarking across multicore systems, GPUs, FPGAs, and distributed computing environments
* Assist in preparing technical reports, research papers, and experimental evaluations
* Collaborate with academic researchers, partner companies, and research labs involved in compiler innovation
* Support continuous testing and refinement of optimization techniques for practical deployment
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science
* Master’s degree is preferred for stronger research exposure
* Internship or practical experience in compilers, artificial intelligence, or deep learning is highly desirable
* Strong understanding of compiler optimization techniques and performance engineering
* Ability to work independently and contribute to advanced research projects
* Strong problem-solving mindset with excellent communication and technical writing skills
