Role Context
The Research Assistant - Neuroengineering will support laboratory and project activities within a translational research environment focused on modulating neural activity across the body. The role combines research support, lab logistics, data collection, analysis, equipment coordination, manuscript preparation, and individualized project work under the supervision of Dr. Khalil Ramadi. The selected candidate will help maintain efficient research operations while contributing to projects that use mechanical, electrical, materials, and bioengineering approaches to address real clinical needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Support research projects focused on neuromodulation, translational medicine, biomedical engineering, and neural activity modulation.
* Assist with data collection, organization, analysis, and documentation for ongoing laboratory studies.
* Manage project logistics, laboratory workflows, equipment coordination, consumables, and research-related purchasing.
* Help train new lab members on laboratory procedures, equipment use, documentation practices, and research workflows.
* Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant writing support, research summaries, and technical documentation.
* Work on individualized research projects under faculty supervision during the appointment.
* Support the development of minimally invasive technologies such as implantable microdevices, nanoparticles, and electroceuticals.
* Assist with experimental preparation, laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and data recording.
* Coordinate with the principal investigator and research team on project milestones, task planning, and progress updates.
* Maintain organized lab records, inventory tracking, experiment notes, and project files.
* Use problem-solving skills to support day-to-day research needs with moderate autonomy.
* Work with a variety of laboratory equipment and support safe, accurate, and efficient lab operations.
* Communicate clearly with faculty, researchers, students, suppliers, and lab members.
* Contribute to a collaborative research environment focused on diagnostics and therapies for neurologic, metabolic, and immune disorders.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical engineering, or a biomedical-related discipline.
* Master’s degree in engineering or a biomedical-related discipline is preferred.
* At least 2 years of work experience in a laboratory setting.
* Familiarity with laboratory equipment, experimental workflows, and research documentation.
* Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
* Proficiency in English.
* Self-motivated approach with the ability to solve problems independently when appropriate.
* Ability to work under principal investigator guidance while handling assigned responsibilities with care.
* Interest in neuroengineering, translational medicine, biomedical devices, neuromodulation, and clinical research applications.
* Experience or interest in engineering device design, fabrication, or manufacturing is preferred.
* UAE nationals are encouraged to apply.
