Role Context
This position divides its clinical support
between dental services and general outpatient care. The Assistant Nurse may prepare a dental treatment room and support a procedure during one part of the day, then assist physicians and nurses with assessments, monitoring or clinical interventions in another department. Adaptability, infection-control discipline and compassionate communication are essential to maintaining continuity across these settings.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist physicians and nurses with patient assessments, consultations and outpatient procedures.
* Measure and accurately document temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure and other vital signs.
* Support clinical monitoring for patients receiving care for chronic health conditions.
* Prepare patients, equipment and treatment areas before examinations and procedures.
* Assist with venepuncture, blood glucose monitoring and ECG procedures within the permitted scope of practice.
* Maintain complete and timely clinical notes in patient records.
* Communicate relevant observations promptly to the responsible physician or registered nurse.
* Provide chairside assistance during dental examinations and treatments.
* Arrange instruments, materials and equipment according to the planned dental procedure.
* Help patients prepare for treatment and provide reassurance throughout their clinic visit.
* Follow dental instrument cleaning, disinfection and sterilization protocols.
* Reset treatment rooms safely between patients.
* Apply infection-prevention procedures across dental and outpatient clinical areas.
* Support patient identification, consent and safety checks before care is delivered.
* Monitor clinical stock levels and request replenishment before essential supplies run out.
* Handle clinical equipment correctly and report faults or maintenance requirements.
* Participate in patient-safety, quality-improvement and infection-control activities.
* Attend mandatory clinical education, Basic Life Support updates and competency training.
* Work collaboratively with dentists, physicians, nurses and administrative colleagues.
* Maintain patient privacy, professional boundaries and a respectful clinical environment.
Ideal Profile
Candidates must hold a diploma or bachelor\'s degree in nursing and be licensed or eligible for licensing as an Assistant Nurse by the Dubai Health Authority. Valid Basic Life Support certification and at least two years of Assistant Nurse experience are required.
Previous outpatient clinic experience is necessary, while dental chairside assistance experience is essential. The preferred applicant will be comfortable supporting family medicine, general practice, specialist and dental services. Fluency in English is required, and the ability to communicate in Tagalog or Nepali is strongly preferred.
