Key Responsibilities
* Assist physicians and nurses with outpatient consultations, assessments, treatments, and routine clinical procedures.
* Measure, monitor, and accurately record patient vital signs and other relevant clinical observations.
* Support patients undergoing investigations and procedures while maintaining privacy, comfort, and safety.
* Assist clinical teams caring for patients with chronic and ongoing health conditions.
* Perform or support venepuncture, blood glucose monitoring, ECG procedures, and other approved nursing activities within the scope of practice.
* Maintain complete and timely patient documentation using clinic systems and electronic medical records.
* Provide chairside assistance to dentists during examinations, treatments, and dental procedures.
* Prepare dental treatment rooms with the required instruments, equipment, consumables, and materials before appointments.
* Support patients throughout dental procedures and provide appropriate pre-procedure and post-procedure assistance.
* Follow sterilisation, disinfection, dental infection control, and clinical waste management procedures.
* Maintain readiness of clinical areas by monitoring stock levels and replenishing essential supplies.
* Handle clinical and dental equipment safely and report maintenance or operational concerns when identified.
* Work closely with dental, family medicine, general practice, specialist, nursing, and outpatient teams to coordinate patient care.
* Follow established patient safety, infection prevention, quality, and clinical governance requirements.
* Participate in mandatory clinical education, BLS updates, competency assessments, and professional development activities.
Ideal Profile
The position requires a Diploma or Bachelor\'s Degree in Nursing together with DHA licensing or DHA eligibility as an Assistant Nurse. Candidates should have at least two years of Assistant Nurse experience, including previous work in an outpatient clinic.
Practical dental clinic experience is essential, particularly direct chairside assistance during examinations and treatments. Candidates who have supported family medicine, general practice, specialist clinics, and multidisciplinary outpatient services will be well suited to the varied nature of the position.
A valid BLS certification is required. The successful candidate should be comfortable with vital signs monitoring, clinical documentation, venepuncture, blood glucose monitoring, ECG support, dental sterilisation, and infection control procedures.
