The Teacher - Science Education is responsible for planning and delivering structured lessons that help students build strong scientific understanding, inquiry skills, and academic confidence. This role supports student progress through effective assessment strategies, collaboration with colleagues, and active engagement with parents and the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging science lessons that support curriculum objectives and student success
* Organise classroom resources and create a positive and stimulating learning environment
* Plan, prepare, and present lessons that cater to the full ability range within the class
* Motivate students through enthusiastic and inquiry-based teaching approaches
* Observe and assess student progress in line with school assessment procedures
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to guide lesson planning, intervention, and student support
* Provide feedback to parents and carers during Parent Teacher Conferences and school meetings
* Collaborate with colleagues and specialist professionals to enhance student development
* Maintain effective classroom management in line with school behaviour policies
* Act as a positive role model and promote student independence, confidence, and well-being
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related subject with a recognised teaching qualification
* Minimum 2 to 3 years of teaching experience in middle school science
* Previous experience working with students where English is not their first language is preferred
* Strong passion for teaching and commitment to student development
* Professional attitude with strong safeguarding awareness and student well-being focus
* Active involvement in extracurricular activities and wider school life
* Positive, solution-focused mindset with strong collaboration skills
* Valid enhanced DBS check or police clearance required
