Role Context
The Consultant - Breast Surgery will support a specialized surgical service focused on accurate diagnosis, safe operative
care, cancer treatment planning, and long-term recovery for patients with breast-related conditions. The role carries strong clinical impact because breast surgery requires technical precision, multidisciplinary coordination, sensitive communication, and continuity of care from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up. Arabic fluency is important for building trust with patients, explaining complex treatment choices clearly, and supporting culturally aligned care across the patient journey in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage benign and malignant breast conditions, including breast lumps, tumors, cancer-related cases, and complex surgical referrals.
* Perform advanced breast surgery procedures including mastectomy, lumpectomy, breast-conserving surgery, and reconstructive breast procedures.
* Provide expert surgical input for breast cancer care in collaboration with oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons, and nursing teams.
* Review imaging, pathology findings, clinical history, and multidisciplinary recommendations to create safe and individualized treatment plans.
* Deliver pre-operative assessment, surgical risk counselling, consent discussions, and preparation for patients undergoing breast procedures.
* Manage post-operative recovery, wound care planning, complication monitoring, pain control coordination, and follow-up assessments.
* Apply minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical techniques where clinically suitable and available.
* Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, surgical expectations, recovery timelines, preventive care, and long-term surveillance.
* Maintain clear and compassionate communication in Arabic and English to support informed decisions and patient confidence.
* Stay current with advances in breast surgery, breast oncology, reconstructive techniques, cancer care pathways, and surgical safety standards.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, treatment plans, consent records, discharge summaries, and follow-up documentation.
* Ensure clinical practice remains aligned with UAE healthcare regulations, hospital policies, patient safety requirements, and ethical standards.
* Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, quality reviews, clinical audits, and service improvement activities.
* Support junior doctors, clinical staff, and surgical teams through teaching, supervision, and professional guidance.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from an accredited medical institution.
* Board certification in General Surgery with specialization or advanced training in Breast Surgery.
* Minimum 5-10 years of experience in breast surgery.
* Strong expertise in oncologic breast surgery and reconstructive breast procedures.
* Proven ability to manage both benign breast disease and breast cancer surgical cases.
* Fluent Arabic communication skills, both spoken and written.
* Western medical training is preferred.
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary breast care, oncology, or tertiary-care surgical environment is highly valued.
