What does a Consultant Cardiologist do?
- Diagnose, manage, and treat patients with various cardiovascular diseases and conditions
- Interpret test results, conduct evaluations, and implement evidence-based treatment plans
- Provide advanced non-invasive cardiac procedures such as echocardiograms, EKGs, and stress tests
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to offer holistic and timely patient care
What are the key responsibilities?
- Perform comprehensive cardiac evaluations including history taking, physical exams, and diagnostic testing
- Analyze diagnostic reports such as ECG, echocardiography, Holter monitoring, and cardiac stress testing
- Design and monitor individualized treatment strategies for patients with heart failure, arrhythmias, and coronary artery disease
- Coordinate care with surgeons, general practitioners, and other specialists when surgical or interventional procedures are needed
- Educate patients on prevention, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and contribute to continuous clinical learning
- Stay current with latest research, protocols, and technological advancements in cardiology
What qualifications and experience are required?
Education:
- Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- Completion of residency and fellowship in Cardiology
- Board certification in Cardiology
- Valid DHA eligibility or license preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience practicing as a Consultant Cardiologist
- Proven track record in non-invasive cardiology procedures and managing complex cases
Skills:
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
- Outstanding communication and bedside manner
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
