Consultant Critical Care Specialist - ICU Medicine in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a senior Hospital and Health Care opportunity for an experienced physician specializing in intensive care medicine, advanced life support, ventilator management, sepsis care, emergency response, and complex medical and surgical critical care. This role is suitable for a consultant-level critical care specialist who can manage critically ill patients in high-acuity ICU settings while supporting patient safety, clinical governance, and evidence-based multidisciplinary care.
The position requires strong leadership during ICU rounds, emergency deterioration, code blue situations, and rapid response cases. The selected consultant will work closely with emergency medicine, surgery, anesthesia, pulmonology, cardiology, nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and allied healthcare teams to deliver advanced critical care services for patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, cardiac emergencies, and multi-organ dysfunction.

Key Responsibilities
* Assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit
* Provide advanced life support and critical care management for respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, cardiac emergencies, shock, and multi-organ dysfunction
* Perform and supervise critical care procedures including intubation, central venous catheter insertion, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy, ventilator management, and bedside ultrasound where applicable
* Lead multidisciplinary ICU rounds and coordinate patient-specific management plans for complex medical and surgical cases
* Collaborate with emergency medicine, surgery, anesthesia, pulmonology, cardiology, infectious diseases, nursing, respiratory therapy, and other specialist teams
* Supervise junior physicians, residents, and ICU clinical staff while supporting safe decision-making and professional development
* Participate in rapid response teams, code blue management, escalation planning, and hospital emergency preparedness initiatives
* Monitor clinical progress, organ support needs, infection risks, medication plans, and response to advanced ICU therapies
* Ensure accurate medical documentation in line with DHA requirements, hospital protocols, and intensive care clinical governance standards
* Participate in clinical audits, research, quality improvement programs, case reviews, and continuing medical education activities
* Maintain high standards of infection control, patient safety, antimicrobial awareness, ICU workflow quality, and evidence-based critical care practice
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is a Consultant Critical Care Medicine Specialist with strong ICU experience in a tertiary-care or academic hospital. This role requires excellent clinical judgment, calm leadership under pressure, procedural confidence, and the ability to coordinate care across multiple specialties in a fast-paced high-acuity environment.
* MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution
* Board Certification or Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, or Anesthesia Critical Care
* Valid DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Consultant Critical Care Medicine
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in ICU or Critical Care Medicine within a tertiary-care or academic hospital
* Strong expertise in ventilator management, sepsis care, shock management, advanced monitoring, and critical care procedures
* ACLS and other advanced critical care certifications are preferred
* Experience in multidisciplinary and high-acuity ICUs will be an advantage
* Exposure to ECMO, CRRT, bronchoscopy, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring is preferred
* Academic, teaching, research, audit, or quality improvement experience will add value
* Excellent leadership, communication, documentation, and clinical decision-making skills
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with complex and urgent clinical demands
