Role Context
The Consultant Dermatologist will provide advanced diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care for patients with a wide range of dermatological concerns affecting the skin, hair, and nails. The role is important for improving patient confidence, early detection of serious skin conditions, safe cosmetic outcomes, and effective management of chronic dermatology cases. Working in a modern clinical environment with multidisciplinary support, the consultant will help strengthen medical and cosmetic dermatology services through evidence-based treatment, patient education, procedural quality, and professional leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose, manage, and treat dermatological conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, skin infections, hair disorders, nail disorders, pigmentary conditions, and skin cancers.
* Perform detailed skin examinations, dermoscopy, lesion assessment, mole evaluation, and clinical review of suspicious or complex dermatological findings.
* Carry out skin biopsies and coordinate pathology review, diagnosis explanation, treatment planning, and appropriate follow-up care.
* Perform advanced dermatological procedures including laser therapy, chemical peels, cryotherapy, phototherapy, minor dermatologic procedures, and other approved skin treatments.
* Provide medical and cosmetic dermatology care using safe, ethical, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, disease severity, patient goals, skin type, medical history, and long-term care needs.
* Educate patients on skincare routines, sun protection, prevention strategies, medication use, procedural aftercare, and chronic condition management.
* Collaborate with other medical specialties for complex cases involving autoimmune disease, oncology, plastic surgery, endocrinology, infectious disease, pediatrics, or internal medicine.
* Maintain high standards of patient safety, confidentiality, informed consent, clinical documentation, and ethical medical practice.
* Supervise, train, and mentor junior doctors, residents, nurses, and clinical support staff where required.
* Stay updated with advancements in dermatology, skin cancer care, procedural dermatology, laser treatments, and aesthetic medicine.
* Participate in clinical governance, audits, quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and continuous medical education activities.
* Support a patient-centered service culture by providing clear communication, realistic expectations, and compassionate care across medical and cosmetic dermatology cases.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS or equivalent from a recognized and accredited institution.
* Board Certification in Dermatology is mandatory.
* Eligibility for Saudi Commission for Health Specialties licensing.
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant Dermatologist.
* Strong clinical experience in both medical dermatology and cosmetic dermatology.
* Proficiency in dermatological procedures, dermoscopy, skin biopsy, laser therapy, chemical peels, cryotherapy, phototherapy, and modern treatment techniques.
* Experience managing acne, eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, skin cancers, pigmentary disorders, hair conditions, and nail diseases.
* Western education or training is highly preferred or may be required depending on licensing authority.
* Previous experience in a modern hospital, specialist clinic, dermatology center, or internationally accredited healthcare facility will be an advantage.
