Role Context
The Consultant - Dermatology will provide expert care for patients with common, chronic, inflammatory, cosmetic, and complex skin conditions. The role includes clinical assessment, skin examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatment planning, patient education, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals when skin conditions are linked to broader medical concerns. The consultant will also support staff training, clinical quality, and the use of updated dermatology techniques in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and treat a broad range of dermatological conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, infections, pigmentation concerns, allergic skin disorders, and suspected skin cancer.
* Perform detailed skin examinations, dermoscopic assessment where applicable, biopsies, lesion evaluation, and related diagnostic procedures.
* Develop personalized treatment plans based on patient history, clinical findings, diagnosis, lifestyle factors, and evidence-based dermatology practice.
* Administer specialized dermatology treatments such as chemical peels, laser therapy, phototherapy, and other medically appropriate skin procedures.
* Perform minor dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, excisions, cautery, cryotherapy, and wound care when required.
* Provide patient education on skin care routines, preventive measures, sun protection, chronic disease control, medication use, and follow-up care.
* Collaborate with physicians, nurses, aesthetic practitioners, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to manage complex skin conditions.
* Stay current with advances in dermatology research, treatment technologies, procedural techniques, and international clinical standards.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, procedure records, pathology follow-up, prescriptions, consent documentation, and treatment plans.
* Train and supervise resident physicians, nurses, and medical staff involved in dermatology services.
* Support clinic protocols, patient safety standards, ethical practice, infection control, and continuous service improvement.
* Communicate with patients in a professional, empathetic, and reassuring manner throughout assessment, treatment, and follow-up.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from an accredited institution.
* Board certification or equivalent recognized qualification in Dermatology.
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant Dermatologist.
* Western education or training is required.
* Strong knowledge of medical dermatology, procedural dermatology, skin cancer evaluation, and common dermatologic treatments.
* Experience diagnosing and treating acne, eczema, psoriasis, inflammatory skin disorders, pigmentation conditions, and complex skin cases.
* Practical experience with biopsies, chemical peels, laser therapy, phototherapy, and other dermatology procedures.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional and empathetic patient care approach.
* Strong leadership, organizational ability, documentation standards, and clinical decision-making skills.
* Ability to work effectively with a diverse medical team in a modern healthcare setting.
