Role Context
The Consultant - Dermatology
will provide expert clinical care for patients with a wide range of skin, hair, nail, and mucosal conditions. The position involves detailed patient assessment, medical history review, diagnostic testing, treatment planning, minor surgical procedures, prescription management, patient education, and follow-up care. The consultant will help strengthen dermatology services in Dubai by offering accurate diagnosis, safe treatment, ethical practice, and coordinated care with other healthcare professionals when patients require broader medical support.
Core Duties
* Diagnose skin, hair, nail, and related dermatological conditions through clinical examination, medical history review, and evidence-based assessment.
* Conduct appropriate diagnostic tests and dermatology procedures to support accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions.
* Develop personalized treatment plans based on each patient’s condition, medical history, age, lifestyle, risk factors, and clinical needs.
* Treat common and complex dermatology cases including acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, pigmentation disorders, fungal infections, allergic skin reactions, hair loss, and chronic skin disease.
* Perform minor dermatological surgical procedures such as skin biopsies, excisions, suturing, lesion removal, and wound care where clinically indicated.
* Prescribe medication, topical treatments, oral therapies, and follow-up care plans while monitoring patient progress and treatment response.
* Educate patients on skin care routines, sun protection, preventive measures, medication use, treatment expectations, and long-term skin health.
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients with systemic, allergic, infectious, or complex medical concerns.
* Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including consultation notes, diagnostic findings, treatment plans, consent documentation, and follow-up recommendations.
* Stay updated with new dermatology research, clinical guidelines, technology, procedures, and treatment techniques.
* Manage patient consultations with professionalism, confidentiality, empathy, and clear communication.
* Adhere to ethical standards, medical regulations, patient safety protocols, infection control procedures, and professional dermatology practice requirements.
Required Skills and Experience
* Medical degree with specialization in Dermatology from an accredited institution.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent recognized qualification in Dermatology.
* Valid medical license to practice in Dubai or eligibility for Dubai Health Authority licensing.
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant Dermatologist.
* Proven experience diagnosing and treating a broad range of medical dermatology conditions.
* Practical experience in dermatological procedures including skin biopsy, excision, suturing, and minor surgical care.
* Strong understanding of preventive dermatology, patient education, medication management, and long-term skin condition monitoring.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly.
* Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
* Strong organizational skills, time management, and the ability to manage a busy clinical schedule.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining patient safety and quality standards.
* Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills will be an advantage.
