Role Context
The Consultant - Dermatology will provide expert care for patients with common, complex, chronic, and cosmetic skin concerns while supporting a patient-focused dermatology service in Dubai. The role combines medical diagnosis, procedural skill, patient education, clinical leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration. By offering accurate assessment, safe treatment planning, skin cancer screening, advanced therapies, and preventive skin health guidance, the consultant will help improve outcomes, patient confidence, and long-term dermatology care standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and treat a broad range of dermatological conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, pigmentation concerns, infections, hair and nail disorders, allergic skin disease, and suspected skin cancer.
* Perform detailed skin examinations, dermoscopic assessments where applicable, biopsies, lesion evaluation, and diagnostic procedures to support accurate clinical decisions.
* Develop personalized treatment plans based on patient history, examination findings, severity of condition, lifestyle factors, treatment goals, and evidence-based dermatology protocols.
* Administer specialized dermatology treatments such as chemical peels, laser therapy, phototherapy, minor dermatologic procedures, and other clinically appropriate interventions.
* Provide medical and procedural care for patients with chronic skin disease, inflammatory disorders, cosmetic concerns, and complex dermatology presentations.
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals for patients requiring multidisciplinary care, including oncology, rheumatology, allergy, plastic surgery, pathology, and primary care input.
* Educate patients on skin care routines, medication use, sun protection, prevention strategies, chronic disease management, and expected treatment outcomes.
* Counsel patients clearly on procedure benefits, risks, recovery expectations, aftercare instructions, and long-term skin health maintenance.
* Stay updated with advances in dermatology research, aesthetic technologies, laser treatments, biologic therapies, diagnostic methods, and clinical guidelines.
* Train and supervise resident physicians, nurses, and medical staff involved in dermatology consultations, procedures, patient preparation, and follow-up care.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, biopsy records, treatment plans, procedure documentation, consent forms, follow-up notes, and medical reports.
* Ensure all care is delivered in line with patient safety standards, infection control requirements, ethical practice, confidentiality, and applicable UAE healthcare regulations.
* Support clinic efficiency, quality improvement, patient experience, clinical governance, and continuous professional development activities.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from an accredited medical institution.
* Board certification in Dermatology.
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant Dermatologist.
* Western education or Western clinical training is required.
* Strong knowledge of medical dermatology, procedural dermatology, aesthetic dermatology, skin cancer assessment, and modern treatment options.
* Proven experience diagnosing and treating acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancer, pigmentation disorders, inflammatory skin disease, and other dermatologic conditions.
