Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Emergency Medicine Department, ensuring strong clinical standards, efficient patient flow, safe decision-making, and effective use of hospital resources.
* Provide consultant-level diagnosis and treatment for acute medical, surgical, trauma, pediatric, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and critical emergency cases.
* Supervise and perform advanced emergency procedures, including airway management, trauma resuscitation, cardiac emergency response, procedural sedation, and critical care stabilization.
* Develop, review, and implement departmental policies, emergency care protocols, escalation pathways, and evidence-based clinical practices.
* Oversee medical staffing, rota planning, departmental coverage, performance reviews, workflow improvement, and coordination between emergency physicians, nurses, and allied health teams.
* Mentor junior doctors, residents, emergency medicine trainees, and multidisciplinary staff through clinical teaching, case discussion, simulation learning, and professional guidance.
* Collaborate with hospital leadership, ICU, surgery, cardiology, pediatrics, radiology, anesthesia, nursing, and ambulance services to improve emergency care pathways.
* Lead clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, CME activities, patient safety initiatives, and quality improvement programs within the department.
* Monitor departmental performance indicators, patient outcomes, waiting times, escalation trends, and operational risks to support continuous improvement.
* Represent the Emergency Medicine Department in hospital committees, accreditation activities, emergency preparedness planning, and external professional forums.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation, departmental reports, incident reviews, and governance records in line with regulatory and hospital standards.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree with recognized specialization in Emergency Medicine.
* Board certification or equivalent specialist qualification in Emergency Medicine.
* Minimum 10-15 years of post-specialization experience, including proven HOD, chair, medical director, or senior departmental leadership experience.
* Eligibility for licensing with the Dubai Health Authority is required.
* Strong clinical background in trauma care, resuscitation, cardiac emergencies, airway management, critical stabilization, and high-acuity emergency medicine.
* Demonstrated ability to lead emergency department operations, manage teams, improve patient flow, and maintain high clinical standards under pressure.
* Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making, organizational, and team development skills.
* Fluency in English is required.
* Arabic or other language skills are an advantage.
* Experience in a busy tertiary hospital, trauma center, or international healthcare environment is preferred.
