Role Context
The Consultant
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Emergency Medicine Department, ensuring high standards of clinical care, operational efficiency, patient safety, and team accountability.
* Provide expert diagnosis, stabilization, and management of acute medical and surgical emergencies across adult, pediatric, and mixed emergency presentations.
* Supervise and perform advanced emergency procedures including airway management, trauma resuscitation, cardiac emergency care, critical care stabilization, and emergency procedural interventions.
* Oversee emergency department triage, patient flow, escalation pathways, admission coordination, discharge safety, and urgent multidisciplinary referrals.
* Develop, implement, and update departmental policies, clinical protocols, evidence-based pathways, and emergency care standards.
* Manage staffing, scheduling, clinical coverage, performance review, and workforce planning for medical and nursing teams.
* Mentor junior doctors, residents, emergency physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals through structured guidance, bedside teaching, simulation, and protocol-based training.
* Collaborate with hospital leadership, ICU, surgery, cardiology, pediatrics, anesthesia, radiology, laboratory, nursing, and administrative teams to optimize emergency care pathways.
* Lead departmental audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement initiatives, CME programs, patient safety projects, and clinical governance activities.
* Represent the Emergency Medicine Department in hospital committees, policy discussions, accreditation reviews, and external professional forums.
* Ensure compliance with DHA licensing standards, hospital policies, documentation requirements, infection control protocols, and ethical medical practice.
* Maintain accurate emergency records, clinical notes, procedure documentation, incident reports, audit data, handover details, and departmental performance reports.
* Support continuous improvement in trauma response, resuscitation readiness, rapid assessment models, emergency preparedness, and high-acuity care delivery.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree with recognized specialization in Emergency Medicine.
* Board Certification or equivalent specialist qualification in Emergency Medicine.
* DHA Eligibility Letter, valid DHA License, or eligibility for Consultant Emergency Medicine licensure in Dubai.
* Minimum 10-15 years of post-specialization experience in Emergency Medicine.
* Proven Head of Department, Medical Director, Clinical Lead, or senior emergency department leadership experience.
* Demonstrated expertise in trauma care, resuscitation, airway management, cardiac emergencies, critical care stabilization, and high-acuity emergency procedures.
* Strong understanding of emergency department operations, patient flow management, workforce planning, clinical governance, and quality improvement.
* Experience developing policies, protocols, audits, departmental KPIs, and evidence-based emergency care pathways.
* Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced, high-pressure clinical environments.
* Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, mentoring, and decision-making skills.
* Fluency in English is required, while Arabic or additional languages will be an advantage.
* High standards of professionalism, ethical practice, patient-centered care, documentation quality, and continuous professional development.
