Role Context
The Consultant Emergency Medicine Specialist plays a critical role in stabilizing patients with acute, life-threatening, and urgent medical conditions. This position strengthens hospital emergency services by delivering immediate clinical decisions, leading emergency interventions, supervising frontline teams, and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and emergency care excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct immediate assessments, examinations, and diagnosis of patients presenting to the emergency department
* Manage acute medical emergencies including trauma, cardiac events, respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, and critical care stabilization
* Implement timely treatment plans and urgent interventions to prevent deterioration and improve survival outcomes
* Perform emergency procedures such as airway management, intubation, central line insertion, resuscitation, and advanced trauma support
* Collaborate closely with surgeons, intensivists, anesthetists, radiologists, and multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care
* Lead emergency response during high-pressure situations and ensure smooth patient flow across emergency services
* Supervise junior doctors, residents, and emergency department staff while providing mentorship and clinical leadership
* Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in compliance with DHA regulations and hospital governance standards
* Participate in clinical audits, departmental quality improvement initiatives, and continuous professional development programs
* Support emergency department policy development and uphold international standards of emergency medicine practice
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from an accredited and recognized institution
* Board certification in Emergency Medicine from a recognized authority
* UK CCT, American Board, Canadian Board, or equivalent consultant qualification is mandatory
* Minimum five years of post-graduate experience in Emergency Medicine
* Previous Middle East healthcare experience is considered highly desirable
* Strong expertise in emergency stabilization, acute care management, and trauma response
* Excellent communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities
* Fluent English communication with Arabic language skills considered an added advantage
