Role Context
The Consultant Endocrinologist - Metabolic Care provides specialist medical care for patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders that require accurate diagnosis, structured treatment, regular monitoring, and long-term clinical support. The role covers both inpatient and outpatient care, with a strong focus on improving disease control, preventing complications, and supporting better quality of life.
This position has direct impact on patients living with diabetes, thyroid conditions, hormonal imbalance, adrenal disease, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, obesity, and related metabolic concerns. The consultant will work closely with internal medicine physicians, nephrologists, cardiologists, dietitians, bariatric teams, nurses, diabetes educators, and other specialists to deliver integrated care.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage endocrine disorders, including diabetes mellitus, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, obesity, and metabolic conditions.
* Conduct comprehensive endocrine evaluations using medical history, physical examination, hormonal studies, metabolic investigations, imaging reports, and patient risk factors.
* Develop individualized treatment and long-term management plans based on diagnosis, disease severity, patient lifestyle, medication response, and clinical goals.
* Manage inpatient and outpatient endocrinology consultations for acute, chronic, and complex endocrine presentations.
* Provide advanced diabetes care, including insulin therapy, medication optimization, continuous glucose monitoring systems, lifestyle counselling, and complication prevention.
* Support patients with obesity medicine, metabolic syndrome, osteoporosis risk, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal imbalance, and pituitary-related conditions.
* Collaborate with internal medicine physicians, nephrologists, cardiologists, dietitians, bariatric teams, diabetes educators, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
* Educate patients and families on disease prevention, medication use, glucose monitoring, nutrition, lifestyle changes, follow-up care, and long-term treatment adherence.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, treatment plans, investigation summaries, medication records, and follow-up documentation.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, research activity, case reviews, and continuing medical education programs.
* Follow DHA requirements, patient safety standards, infection control policies, confidentiality rules, and evidence-based clinical practice.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Endocrinology.
* Active DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Dubai Health Authority consultant licensure.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in Endocrinology within a reputed tertiary care hospital, academic hospital, or specialty clinic.
* Strong expertise in diabetes management, thyroid disease, adrenal conditions, pituitary disorders, obesity medicine, osteoporosis, and metabolic care.
* Experience with advanced diabetes technologies, insulin therapy, continuous glucose monitoring, and insulin pump therapy is preferred.
* Exposure to obesity medicine, metabolic disorders, academic work, or research activity is an advantage.
* Arabic speaking skills are preferred.
* Excellent communication, analytical thinking, patient counselling, clinical documentation, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
