Role Context
The Consultant - Endocrinology will provide comprehensive endocrine services for patients with diabetes mellitus, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, obesity, and metabolic conditions. The role requires strong diagnostic ability, careful interpretation of hormonal and metabolic investigations, individualized long-term treatment planning, and effective patient education. The consultant will work with internal medicine, nephrology, cardiology, nutrition, bariatric, nursing, and allied healthcare teams to improve outcomes for patients with chronic and complex endocrine needs in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage endocrine and metabolic disorders, including diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, obesity, and related metabolic conditions.
* Conduct comprehensive endocrine evaluations using clinical history, physical examination, laboratory results, hormonal assays, imaging findings, and metabolic investigations.
* Develop individualized treatment plans and long-term management strategies for patients with acute, chronic, and complex endocrine conditions.
* Manage inpatient and outpatient endocrinology consultations, ensuring continuity of care and timely follow-up.
* Provide advanced diabetes management, including insulin therapy, continuous glucose monitoring systems, lifestyle counseling, and complication prevention.
* Support patients with obesity and metabolic disorders through evidence-based medical management and multidisciplinary care coordination.
* Collaborate with internal medicine physicians, nephrologists, cardiologists, dietitians, bariatric teams, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
* Educate patients and families on disease prevention, medication adherence, lifestyle modification, glucose monitoring, nutrition, and long-term self-management.
* Interpret hormonal profiles, metabolic panels, endocrine imaging, diabetes technology reports, and other diagnostic results to guide accurate clinical decisions.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, treatment plans, medication records, diagnostic interpretations, patient education records, and follow-up documentation.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, research activity, case discussions, and continuing medical education programs.
* Ensure all care follows patient safety standards, infection control requirements, ethical practice, confidentiality rules, and hospital protocols.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
* Board certification or fellowship in Endocrinology.
* Valid UAE Consultant Endocrinology license or eligibility for Consultant registration in Dubai.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in Endocrinology within a reputed tertiary care hospital, academic hospital, or specialist endocrine clinic.
* Strong expertise in diabetes management, thyroid disease, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, obesity medicine, osteoporosis, and metabolic conditions.
* Experience with advanced diabetes technologies, continuous glucose monitoring, insulin therapy, and insulin pump therapy is preferred.
* Exposure to obesity medicine, metabolic care pathways, and multidisciplinary chronic disease management is valuable.
* Academic, audit, teaching, or research experience is an advantage.
* Arabic speaking skills are preferred.
* Excellent communication, analytical thinking, clinical decision-making, and patient counseling skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
