Role Context
The Consultant - ENT Head and Neck Surgery will deliver advanced outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and operative care across the full scope of otolaryngology. The position has a strong focus on head and neck surgical oncology, thyroid and salivary gland procedures, airway reconstruction, difficult airway care, and multidisciplinary treatment planning. The consultant will also contribute to clinical governance, protocol development, teaching, research, and service expansion in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of adult and pediatric ENT conditions across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings.
* Perform advanced head and neck surgeries, including thyroid, parathyroid, salivary gland, neck mass, and oncologic procedures.
* Lead complex airway management, including difficult airway cases, tracheostomy care, airway reconstruction, and endoscopic airway interventions.
* Manage emergency ENT cases such as airway obstruction, severe epistaxis, trauma, infections, and urgent surgical presentations.
* Perform a full range of ENT procedures, including endoscopic sinus surgery, otologic surgery, laryngeal surgery, head and neck oncology procedures, and airway interventions.
* Conduct outpatient clinics, diagnostic assessments, endoscopic evaluations, surgical reviews, and post-operative follow-up care.
* Collaborate with anesthesiology, oncology, radiology, pulmonology, ICU, pathology, speech therapy, audiology, and rehabilitation teams.
* Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, airway management committees, complex case discussions, and integrated treatment planning.
* Ensure all clinical and surgical care follows international quality standards, DHA requirements, hospital protocols, patient safety guidelines, and ethical practice.
* Maintain accurate and timely consultation notes, operative reports, consent documentation, treatment plans, and follow-up records.
* Contribute to clinical governance, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement work, patient safety initiatives, and protocol optimization.
* Teach and supervise residents, fellows, junior doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals involved in ENT and head and neck services.
* Engage in research, publications, audits, continuing medical education, and evidence-based improvements in otolaryngology practice.
* Support strategic planning, service development, and pathway creation for ENT, head and neck surgery, and airway management programs.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent qualification.
* Completion of residency and fellowship training in Otolaryngology or ENT.
* Western Board Certification such as UK CCT, American Board, Canadian FRCSC, Australian or New Zealand Fellowship, or equivalent recognized qualification.
* Subspecialty fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgery or Airway Surgery is preferred.
* Eligibility for DHA Consultant License.
* Minimum 8 years of post-specialty qualification experience, or as required by DHA consultant licensing criteria.
* Proven expertise in complex airway management, head and neck surgical oncology, and advanced ENT surgical procedures.
* Experience in tertiary care hospitals, high-volume ENT departments, head and neck centers, or advanced airway services will be an advantage.
* Strong ability to manage complex adult and pediatric ENT cases in both elective and emergency settings.
* Excellent communication, leadership, clinical judgment, multidisciplinary teamwork, and patient counselling skills.
* Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, clinical documentation, service development, and continuous improvement.
