Role Context
The Consultant ENT will provide comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical care for patients with common and complex otolaryngology conditions. The
role covers sinus disease, ear disorders, hearing problems, sleep-related airway conditions, laryngeal disease, and head and neck pathology while also supporting pediatric ENT cases. Through close collaboration with audiology, speech therapy, radiology, anesthesia, oncology, and other specialties, the consultant will help improve treatment accuracy, surgical outcomes, patient safety, and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and treat a broad range of adult and pediatric ENT conditions including sinusitis, otitis media, hearing loss, sleep apnea, airway disorders, and head and neck tumors.
* Conduct comprehensive outpatient consultations and determine appropriate medical, procedural, or surgical management.
* Perform tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for clinically indicated pediatric and adult cases.
* Carry out septoplasty and related nasal procedures to address structural obstruction and breathing problems.
* Perform functional endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic or complex sinonasal disease.
* Undertake microscopic ear surgery for selected middle and external ear disorders.
* Perform diagnostic and operative laryngoscopy for voice, airway, and laryngeal conditions.
* Conduct head and neck reconstructive procedures within the consultant\'s scope of training and expertise.
* Evaluate patients with suspected head and neck tumors and coordinate further diagnostic or oncological management when required.
* Interpret CT and MRI imaging relevant to ENT, sinus, temporal bone, airway, and head and neck disease.
* Review audiograms, hearing assessments, vestibular findings, and endoscopic examination results.
* Use flexible and rigid endoscopy to investigate nasal, pharyngeal, and laryngeal pathology.
* Manage inpatient ENT cases requiring observation, surgical treatment, postoperative care, or specialist intervention.
* Coordinate treatment with audiologists, speech therapists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, oncologists, pediatricians, and other clinical specialists.
* Explain diagnoses, procedures, expected outcomes, alternatives, and potential complications clearly to patients and families.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative records, consent documentation, diagnostic findings, and follow-up plans.
* Participate in clinical audits, morbidity reviews, patient safety initiatives, and departmental quality improvement programs.
* Contribute to development and review of ENT clinical protocols, treatment pathways, and procedural standards.
* Participate in continuing medical education, case discussions, teaching activities, and professional development.
* Apply evidence-based clinical standards and maintain high levels of surgical safety, infection control, and patient-centered care.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Board Certification in Otolaryngology through the American Board, Royal College, or another recognized equivalent authority.
* Valid DHA license or eligibility for consultant-level licensure in Dubai.
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience in a tertiary care or academic hospital environment.
* Demonstrated clinical and surgical experience across both adult and pediatric ENT practice.
* Strong competence in sinus surgery, ear surgery, laryngoscopy, tonsil and adenoid procedures, and head and neck surgery.
* Ability to assess complex ENT presentations using imaging, audiology, endoscopy, and clinical examination.
* Strong diagnostic judgment and ability to determine when surgical or conservative management is most appropriate.
* Experience coordinating multidisciplinary treatment for head and neck, hearing, speech, or airway conditions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with patients, families, and clinical teams.
