Role Context
The Consultant - ENT Surgery will provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management
for patients with ear, nose, throat, head, neck, hearing, sinus, voice, airway, and sleep-related disorders. The position requires advanced clinical judgment, procedural skill, accurate interpretation of diagnostic tests, and effective coordination with audiology, speech therapy, radiology, oncology, anesthesia, pediatrics, nursing, and other specialist teams. The consultant will help strengthen ENT services in Dubai through evidence-based practice, safe surgical care, strong communication, and continuous improvement in patient outcomes.
Core Duties
* Diagnose and treat a wide range of ENT conditions including sinusitis, otitis media, hearing loss, sleep apnea, voice disorders, airway problems, tonsillar disease, nasal obstruction, and head and neck tumors.
* Perform advanced ENT procedures including tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, septoplasty, functional endoscopic sinus surgery, microscopic ear surgery, laryngoscopy, and head and neck reconstructive surgery.
* Provide comprehensive outpatient consultations and inpatient ENT management for adult and pediatric patients.
* Interpret diagnostic tests including CT scans, MRI scans, audiograms, nasal endoscopy, laryngoscopy findings, and other ENT-related investigations.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment, imaging results, patient history, symptom severity, surgical risk, and long-term care needs.
* Manage pediatric ENT cases involving recurrent tonsillitis, adenoid disease, ear infections, hearing concerns, airway symptoms, and sleep-related breathing disorders.
* Collaborate with audiologists, speech therapists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, oncologists, pediatricians, nurses, and other specialists to provide integrated care.
* Counsel patients and families on diagnosis, surgical options, procedure risks, recovery expectations, medication use, and follow-up requirements.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including consultation notes, diagnostic reports, operative records, consent forms, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
* Support evidence-based practice, patient safety, infection control, clinical governance, and compliance with DHA standards.
* Participate in clinical audits, CME activities, morbidity and mortality discussions, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental protocol development.
* Contribute to teaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing for junior doctors, residents, nurses, and allied healthcare staff.
* Stay updated with advances in otolaryngology, endoscopic sinus surgery, microscopic ear surgery, airway care, sleep medicine, and head and neck surgery.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Otolaryngology such as American Board, Royal College, or equivalent recognized qualification.
* DHA license or eligibility for Consultant classification is required.
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience in a tertiary care or academic hospital setting.
* Proven expertise in both adult and pediatric ENT cases.
* Strong surgical experience in tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, septoplasty, functional endoscopic sinus surgery, microscopic ear surgery, laryngoscopy, and head and neck procedures.
* Confident ability to interpret CT, MRI, audiograms, endoscopic evaluations, and ENT diagnostic findings.
