Role Context
The Consultant - ENT will provide specialist medical and surgical care for patients with acute, chronic, and complex conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat, airway, voice, hearing, sinuses, and head and neck region. The role supports high-quality clinical decision-making, accurate diagnosis, safe operative care, and coordinated treatment for both adult and pediatric patients. The consultant will also contribute to hospital standards through clinical audits, protocol development, continuing medical education, and collaborative practice with allied healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and treat a broad range of ENT conditions, including sinusitis, otitis media, hearing loss, sleep apnea, airway concerns, voice disorders, balance issues, and head and neck tumors.
* Provide outpatient ENT consultations, inpatient assessments, emergency reviews, and follow-up care based on evidence-based clinical practice.
* Perform advanced ENT procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, septoplasty, functional endoscopic sinus surgery, microscopic ear surgery, laryngoscopy, and head and neck reconstructive surgery.
* Manage adult and pediatric ENT cases with safe diagnostic pathways, appropriate investigations, and personalized treatment plans.
* Interpret CT scans, MRI scans, audiograms, endoscopic findings, and other diagnostic results to guide accurate clinical decisions.
* Work closely with audiologists, speech therapists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, pediatricians, oncologists, nurses, and other specialists for integrated patient care.
* Explain diagnoses, procedure options, expected outcomes, risks, and recovery plans clearly to patients and families.
* Maintain complete and accurate patient records, operative notes, consent forms, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and follow-up documentation.
* Participate in clinical audits, departmental meetings, morbidity and mortality reviews, CME sessions, and patient safety initiatives.
* Help develop and improve ENT department protocols, care pathways, and quality standards within the hospital.
* Support ethical practice, clinical governance, infection control, confidentiality, and a high standard of patient experience.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
* Board certification in Otolaryngology, such as American Board, Royal College, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
* DHA license or DHA eligibility as a Consultant ENT physician.
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience in a tertiary care hospital, academic hospital, or advanced ENT clinical setting.
* Strong experience in both adult and pediatric ENT diagnosis, medical treatment, and surgical management.
* Proven capability in procedures including tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, septoplasty, FESS, microscopic ear surgery, laryngoscopy, and head and neck procedures.
* Ability to assess imaging, audiology reports, endoscopic findings, and complex clinical presentations with confidence.
* Excellent surgical judgment, communication skills, patient counselling ability, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
