The position requires advanced diagnostic capability, strong communication with expectant parents, and close collaboration with obstetricians, neonatologists, genetic counselors, pediatric specialists, radiologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose, evaluate, and manage fetal abnormalities using advanced ultrasound, fetal imaging, and other prenatal diagnostic tools
* Provide specialist consultation for pregnant women with high-risk pregnancies, fetal anomalies, genetic concerns, or complex maternal-fetal conditions
* Counsel parents-to-be clearly and compassionately regarding diagnostic findings, possible risks, prognosis, treatment options, and follow-up requirements
* Review medical history, perform relevant clinical assessments, and request appropriate investigations to support accurate diagnosis and care planning
* Discuss the risks, benefits, and expected outcomes of different management options and provide evidence-based recommendations
* Coordinate with obstetrics, neonatology, genetics, radiology, pediatric surgery, anesthesia, and other multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans
* Perform or support fetal interventions when clinically indicated, including fetal blood transfusion, fetoscopic procedures, intrauterine treatment, or related fetal medicine procedures
* Monitor patient progress, review fetal growth and wellbeing, and adjust management plans according to clinical findings
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with DHA standards, hospital policies, and UAE healthcare regulations
* Stay updated with developments in fetal medicine, prenatal diagnosis, maternal-fetal medicine, fetal therapy, and high-risk obstetric care
* Participate in conferences, workshops, case reviews, clinical governance activities, and continuing medical education programs
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is a highly trained Consultant Fetal Medicine physician with strong experience in prenatal diagnosis, fetal abnormality management, high-risk pregnancy care, and parent counseling. This role requires clinical precision, emotional intelligence, and the ability to support families through sensitive and complex pregnancy-related decisions.
* Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent from a recognized institution
* Certification or recognized specialist training in Fetal Medicine
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant Fetal Medicine physician in a reputable healthcare institution
* Western education, Western training, or experience in a recognized healthcare system such as USA, UK, Canada, or equivalent is mandatory
* Valid UAE medical license or eligibility to practice as a Consultant Fetal Medicine physician
* Strong expertise in advanced obstetric ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, fetal anomaly assessment, and high-risk pregnancy management
* Experience with fetal interventions such as fetal blood transfusion, fetoscopic surgery, or intrauterine procedures will be an advantage
* Excellent communication, counseling, documentation, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and patient-focused healthcare environment
* Fluency in English is required, and Arabic language skills are an advantage
