Role Context
The Consultant Gastroenterologist - Arabic Speaker provides specialist care for patients with acute, chronic, and complex digestive system conditions. The role combines clinical assessment, endoscopic procedure expertise, investigation review, patient counselling, and evidence-based treatment planning to improve digestive health outcomes and long-term disease control.
This position is especially valuable for Arabic-speaking patients and families who need clear explanation of diagnosis, procedure risks, lifestyle changes, medication plans, and follow-up care. The consultant will help strengthen gastroenterology services through clinical quality, multidisciplinary coordination, patient education, and safe procedural practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders, including GERD, IBS, IBD, liver disease, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, bowel disorders, abdominal pain, and other digestive conditions.
* Conduct comprehensive gastroenterology consultations, including medical history review, physical examination, symptom assessment, risk evaluation, and follow-up planning.
* Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsy, polypectomy, and related interventions where clinically appropriate.
* Manage both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology cases, including acute referrals, chronic digestive conditions, and complex multidisciplinary patients.
* Interpret laboratory results, imaging reports, endoscopic findings, pathology results, and clinical data to develop evidence-based treatment plans.
* Develop individualized treatment and long-term follow-up plans based on diagnosis, disease severity, patient needs, medication response, and preventive care goals.
* Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, dietitians, oncologists, internal medicine physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary medical teams to provide integrated patient care.
* Provide culturally sensitive consultation and clear medical guidance to Arabic-speaking patients and families.
* Educate patients on digestive health, diet, lifestyle modification, medication adherence, screening needs, disease prevention, and follow-up requirements.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, endoscopy reports, consent documentation, treatment plans, investigation summaries, and follow-up records in line with DHA requirements.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement programs, CME activities, departmental meetings, and patient safety initiatives.
* Follow international clinical standards, infection control protocols, ethical practice, confidentiality requirements, and evidence-based gastroenterology care.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Gastroenterology.
* Active DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Dubai Health Authority consultant licensure.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in a reputed hospital or healthcare institution.
* Strong expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy.
* Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, with strong English communication skills preferred.
* Experience in hepatology and management of chronic liver diseases is preferred.
* Exposure to advanced endoscopic procedures is an advantage.
* Strong patient communication, counselling, clinical documentation, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with high standards of professionalism and patient care.
