The Consultant Gastroenterologist plays a vital role in improving digestive health outcomes through accurate diagnosis, advanced treatment planning, and long-term disease management. This position supports patient wellness by delivering evidence-based care, preventive guidance, and specialist intervention across a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations including patient history review, physical examinations, and advanced diagnostic assessments
* Diagnose and treat digestive system disorders including inflammatory bowel disease, liver conditions, reflux disorders, ulcers, and gastrointestinal infections
* Manage patients with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and related chronic conditions
* Develop personalized treatment plans including medication management, dietary guidance, and lifestyle modification strategies
* Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures including endoscopy, colonoscopy, and other gastroenterology investigations where applicable
* Prescribe medications and coordinate long-term follow-up care for chronic digestive disorders
* Collaborate with surgeons, nutritionists, nurses, and internal medicine specialists to ensure integrated patient care
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and compliance with hospital quality standards
* Stay updated with new research, treatment protocols, and advancements in gastroenterology practice
* Participate in specialist meetings, conferences, and continuous medical education programs
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized accredited university
* Board Certification in Gastroenterology is mandatory
* Minimum 5 years of Consultant-level experience in gastroenterology practice
* Western education or specialist training is required
* Strong expertise in gastrointestinal diagnostics and treatment planning
* Excellent communication skills and strong patient-centered consultation approach
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
