The Consultant Gastroenterologist - Endoscopy Care provides specialist medical care for patients with acute, chronic, and complex digestive system conditions. The role combines outpatient consultation, inpatient care, endoscopic procedures, diagnostic interpretation, long-term disease management, and patient education.

The consultant will support safe diagnosis, effective treatment planning, and improved quality of life for patients with gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage diseases related to the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and digestive system.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology consultations for patients with acute symptoms, chronic digestive conditions, and complex referral cases.
* Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, biopsy, polypectomy, and related interventions where clinically appropriate.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient history, clinical examination, laboratory findings, imaging reports, endoscopy results, and long-term health goals.
* Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and support continuity of care for chronic gastrointestinal and hepatology cases.
* Manage common and complex conditions such as IBS, IBD, GERD, liver diseases, abdominal pain, bowel habit changes, gastrointestinal bleeding, and pancreatic disorders.
* Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, dietitians, internal medicine specialists, nurses, and other multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
* Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication use, preventive care, diet, lifestyle modification, and follow-up requirements.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, endoscopy reports, consent documentation, treatment plans, investigation summaries, and follow-up records in line with DHA requirements.
* Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, patient safety activity, and continuing medical education programs.
* Supervise junior medical staff when required and support high standards of clinical practice within the department.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DHA.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Gastroenterology.
* DHA License or DHA Eligibility Letter as Consultant Gastroenterologist.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-specialization experience in a reputed hospital or healthcare facility.
* Strong expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
* Experience managing IBS, IBD, GERD, liver diseases, hepatology cases, pancreatic disorders, and complex digestive conditions.
* Fluency in English is required, while Arabic or Hindi language skills are an advantage.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, clinical documentation, patient counselling, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with a patient-focused approach and sound clinical judgment.
