Role Context
The Consultant Gastroenterologist will provide specialist medical care for patients with gastrointestinal and digestive disorders, including Crohn\'s disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, liver-related conditions, and other complex GI presentations. The position requires strong diagnostic judgment, clear communication, multidisciplinary coordination, and a commitment to evidence-based treatment that improves patient outcomes and long-term digestive health.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct detailed medical evaluations, including patient history review, physical assessment, symptom analysis, and clinical risk assessment.
* Diagnose and manage digestive system disorders, including Crohn\'s disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, reflux disease, and other gastrointestinal conditions.
* Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory results, imaging reports, and relevant gastroenterology investigations.
* Develop personalized treatment plans based on each patient\'s diagnosis, health status, lifestyle, and long-term care needs.
* Prescribe appropriate medications and recommend dietary changes, lifestyle adjustments, and follow-up care plans.
* Work closely with nurses, nutritionists, surgeons, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology consultations with accurate documentation and timely clinical reporting.
* Stay updated with current gastroenterology research, clinical guidelines, and evidence-based treatment developments.
* Participate in medical conferences, workshops, CME activities, and departmental learning programs to strengthen clinical practice.
* Support a patient-centered care environment built on trust, confidentiality, safety, and professional communication.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from an accredited university.
* Board certification in Gastroenterology or an equivalent recognized specialist qualification.
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant Gastroenterologist.
* Western education or training is required.
* Strong knowledge of digestive system diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, and chronic gastrointestinal conditions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly to patients and families.
* Confident in working with multidisciplinary clinical teams in hospital-based gastroenterology care.
