Role Context
The Consultant Gastroenterologist is responsible for managing complex gastrointestinal diseases and improving patient health through accurate diagnosis, specialist procedures, and personalized treatment planning. This role supports healthcare excellence by treating digestive disorders, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and helping patients achieve better long-term gastrointestinal wellness.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations including patient history review, physical examination, and specialist consultations
* Diagnose and treat digestive system disorders such as Crohn\'s disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, IBS, GERD, liver disease, and other gastrointestinal conditions
* Order and interpret diagnostic investigations including endoscopy, colonoscopy, imaging studies, biopsies, and laboratory tests
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient condition, disease progression, and long-term health goals
* Prescribe medications and recommend dietary changes, nutritional guidance, and lifestyle modifications for better digestive health
* Perform diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology procedures where clinically required
* Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, nutritionists, radiologists, and internal medicine specialists for coordinated patient care
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with DHA regulations and hospital governance standards
* Stay updated with modern advancements in gastroenterology through conferences, workshops, and continuous medical education
* Participate in clinical audits, research activities, and departmental quality improvement programs
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from an accredited and recognized university
* Board certification in Gastroenterology is essential
* Minimum five years of experience working as a Consultant Gastroenterologist
* Strong expertise in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal disorders and digestive system diseases
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach
* Western education or specialist training is required
* Strong clinical decision-making and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities
