Role Context
The Consultant - Gastroenterology will provide specialized medical care for patients with diseases and disorders of the digestive system, including Crohn\'s disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, abdominal pain, reflux symptoms, inflammatory bowel disease, and other gastrointestinal conditions. The role requires strong diagnostic ability, evidence-based treatment planning, clear communication, and collaboration with nurses, nutritionists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals. The consultant will support better digestive health outcomes in Dubai by combining advanced clinical expertise with compassionate patient education and coordinated long-term care.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough medical evaluations, including patient history review, physical examination, symptom assessment, and risk factor analysis.
* Diagnose and manage digestive system disorders, including Crohn\'s disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, reflux-related conditions, and other gastrointestinal concerns.
* Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, laboratory investigations, imaging reports, and procedure findings to support accurate diagnosis.
* Provide timely treatment for acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions using evidence-based medical practice.
* Develop personalized treatment plans based on each patient’s condition, medical background, lifestyle, disease severity, and long-term care needs.
* Prescribe and manage medications for digestive diseases, inflammatory conditions, symptom control, and ongoing disease management.
* Recommend dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, preventive measures, and follow-up plans to support improved digestive health.
* Collaborate with nurses, nutritionists, surgeons, radiologists, internal medicine physicians, and other healthcare professionals for coordinated patient care.
* Educate patients on diagnosis, medication use, treatment expectations, disease prevention, nutrition, and proactive health management.
* Stay updated with the latest developments, research, clinical guidelines, and treatment methods in gastroenterology.
* Participate in conferences, workshops, continuing medical education, and professional development activities.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, treatment plans, diagnostic records, medication documentation, and follow-up reports.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from an accredited university.
* Board certification in Gastroenterology or an equivalent recognized consultant-level qualification.
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant Gastroenterologist.
* Western education or Western training is required.
* Strong expertise in diagnosing and treating Crohn\'s disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and other gastrointestinal disorders.
* Ability to conduct detailed medical evaluations and develop patient-specific treatment plans.
* Strong understanding of medication management, dietary guidance, lifestyle modification, and preventive digestive care.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with patients and clinical teams.
