Role Context
The Consultant - Gynecologic Oncology will provide specialist surgical and oncologic care for women with suspected, confirmed, recurrent, or complex gynecologic malignancies. The role combines advanced diagnostic assessment, surgical planning, minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures, perioperative care, tumor board participation, and long-term oncology follow-up. The consultant will support women’s cancer services in Dubai by working closely with medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, anesthesia, nursing, and supportive care teams to deliver safe, coordinated, and patient-centered cancer care.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage gynecologic malignancies including ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer, vulvar cancer, endometrial cancer, and complex pre-malignant conditions.
* Perform advanced gynecologic oncology surgeries, including open, minimally invasive, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted procedures where clinically appropriate.
* Develop individualized cancer treatment plans based on tumor type, disease stage, pathology findings, imaging results, surgical risk, and patient preferences.
* Provide perioperative care, postoperative management, complication prevention, and long-term oncologic follow-up for gynecologic cancer patients.
* Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, complex case reviews, oncology planning meetings, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, fertility specialists, nurses, and supportive care teams.
* Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical risks, recovery expectations, fertility considerations, prognosis, and survivorship planning.
* Maintain accurate medical records, operative reports, consent forms, staging documentation, treatment plans, tumor board notes, and follow-up records.
* Ensure clinical practice follows DHA requirements, hospital policies, international oncology standards, patient safety protocols, and ethical care principles.
* Contribute to medical education, research activity, mentoring, publications, CME programs, and professional development within the oncology service.
* Support a compassionate care environment focused on privacy, dignity, cultural awareness, informed decision-making, and long-term patient wellbeing.
* Help strengthen gynecologic oncology pathways through evidence-based practice, protocol development, surgical quality review, and multidisciplinary leadership.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized institution with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Fellowship, CCT, or equivalent UK qualification in Gynecologic Oncology.
* UK-trained candidate preferred.
* DHA License Eligibility or active DHA License preferred.
* Minimum 5-7 years of consultant-level experience in gynecologic oncology surgery.
* Strong expertise in complex gynecologic cancer surgery, minimally invasive procedures, robotic-assisted surgery, staging procedures, and multidisciplinary oncology care.
* Proven ability to manage ovarian, cervical, uterine, vulvar, and endometrial cancer cases from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up.
* Experience working with tumor boards, oncology pathways, research programs, clinical audits, and quality improvement activities.
* Strong multidisciplinary collaboration, leadership, surgical decision-making, and patient-management skills.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to counsel patients and families during complex and sensitive cancer care decisions.
